About Sumit Malhotra
Sumit Malhotra is a dual-qualified lawyer with experience in estates, trusts, and commercial litigation. Before entering private practice in Canada, he worked as a Senior Estate Advisor at one of Canada’s leading banks, where he developed extensive knowledge of estate administration processes and complex financial aspects of estate management. He is also a Bravo Award recipient, recognized for excellence in the financial sector.
Sumit was called to the Ontario Bar in 2024. Prior to immigrating to Canada, he practiced commercial and insolvency litigation with top law firms in India, handling shareholder oppression and mismanagement matters, director disputes, and insolvency proceedings. He holds a B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights from the Indian Institute of Law.
After his call to the bar, Sumit joined one of the top estate and capacity litigation boutiques in the country, where he worked on will challenges, guardianship disputes, power of attorney litigation, trustee disputes, and high-conflict estate matters.
Sumit joined Diamond & Diamond Lawyers LLP in 2026, bringing his experience in estate planning, estate administration, and estates litigation to support clients through all stages of the estate process.
He is a member of the Toronto Lawyers Association and is fluent in English and Hindi, with a working understanding of Punjabi. Outside of work, Sumit enjoys soccer and is a dedicated Chelsea FC supporter.
